The Art Makers site provides you an opportunity to showcase your work, not only amongst your friends but across the world. We have organised our galleries under a number of categories so that you can select how your work will be presented. If anyone viewing your work wants to contact you, the site allows this to happen. This is all free.
This is not all. The site is also a virtual community. By posting on our forums, you will be interacting with others who share your passions. As a free standard member, you may post to any of our forums, create new discussion threads, create new discussion topics or join special communities of interests created by our premium members. As a standard member, you can also bid on auctions hosted by the site.
The way we have designed our site means that your images and your content are all available for the major search engine to see. We are also making use of very advanced and sophisticated search engine optimisation techniques to ensure that the site is popular across all search engines. The site’s technical infrastructure is highly secure so you can rest assured that your personal details cannot be accessed by spammers and hackers.
So, if all you want to do is to share your art or craft with friends and relatives who are far apart, then upload images and let them know they can access them through this site. You can upload up to six digital images of each item and you can load up to 5 items as a free standard member.
Own Website or Art Makers?
Unless you are a well known artist or craftsman, then it is better for you to post your art on this site. Why? Unless you are well known, no one will be able to find their way to your site. You will end up paying for traffic to your site, or, working hard to get users to visit your own website. Even if you can write HTML and manipulate databases, you will not be able to replicate this Site’s techniques for search engine optimisation and directing traffic. If you have to pay someone to create you an Internet site, then the one-off costs and the annual costs are going to significantly exceed our annual premium membership fees.
Selling Your Items
As a premium member (five pounds sterling per calendar month), you have the right to upload any number of your items to this site. You will not be restricted to just five items like a standard member. You will also be able to set a selling price on each item which will be displayed on our search results. As a premium member, you can also submit any of your items for auction. Unlike other sites, we do not charge a commission based on a percentage of your sale. What you get is all yours and we do not take a cut. By being a premium member, you get the right to use our auction facilities.
Creating Your Own Community
Whether you are a local branch of the Sealed Knot or just the alumni of an art and craft class, you can create community to allow your group to stay informed of each others activities. You might just want to share your items within this community before displaying it to the world-wide-web, or, you may wish to discuss issue that is of relevance to your community. By becoming a premium member you have the right to create your own community within the Art Maker site. Only the creator (owner) of the community has to be a premium member and people can join your community as a standard member of the Art Makers site. Your community can be entirely private, semi-public or public. The choice is yours. Within your community, you have a mini-version of the Art Makers functionality available to you.
So, if you are teaching a class, then you could have an Art Makers community dedicated to that particular cohort. Any arts and crafts teachers and lecturers interested in this, should contact one of the founders. We will be happy to give several months free premium memberships to teachers and lecturers.
