This is an oil painting measuring approximately 50 x 40 cm. It is a colourful painting depicting my interpretation of the new football stadium being built in Cape Town in the suburb of Greenpoint in readiness for the Fifa world cup being held here in 2010. The painting highlights the joy of the people of Cape Town anticipating this event although there are some satyrical aspects to it= the unfinished highway which Cape Town is famous for and the traffic issues which remain unresolved. The Dolphin is a symbol for the natural elements which were disturbed in the building of this stadium and perhaps the message here is that Nature will have the last laugh. The Hot Air Balloons represent the hot air that has been spoken since the building was mooted.
